Ernie Els Proprietor's Syrah 2011 Price £22.49

Tasting Notes
A terrific vintage for Syrah where the warmer conditions assisted in an incredibly powerful, yet finely tuned wine. Inky purple with a black core, the nose opens to smoked beef, dense blueberry, a touch of cassis and hints of scorched earth. The palate is plush and inviting with ingrained dark chocolate, gamey spice and even a hint of black truffle. The polished tannins are slightly more open than the 2010, as they appear to be coated with eternal layers of sweet fruit. The finish is long and clear with a freshness and savoury edge balancing the purity of fruit. Utterly balanced for immediate enjoyment, it will age well for up to a decade.

Ageing Potential: Taught and alluring at the moment, time will bring even more complexity and pleasure.
Blend Information: 95% Shiraz, 5% Viognier
Alcohol: 14.5%

Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Shiraz 2008 Price £28.99

Alcohol: 15%

Kaapzicht Steytler Pinotage 2011 Price £25.99

Tasting Notes

Sweet spice, freshly picked red plums, black cherries and cola are supported by aromatic toasted coconut and milk chocolate from the youthful oak. The bright cored palate of the 2011 is less dense than previous vintages, showing more elegance and freshness, but retaining the characteristic fine grained, polished tannin structure that is accessible and mouth-watering now, but will also develop further complexity with bottle age.

Ageing Potential: 5 - 8 years cellaring at stable, cool temperature.

Blend Information: 100% Pinotage
Alcohol: 14%

Meerlust Rubicon 2009 Price £22.49
